The Peach State
Atlanta is a very modern city, “The Capitol of the South,” with an international flavor. It is the home of the Civil Rights movement in the South and the world’s busiest airport.

Several Atlanta churches have joined together to welcome you into our homes. You will usually live with two American families--first week, December 16-26 with one family and December 26 - January 1 with another family. We offer you warm Southern hospitality as well as the opportunity to participate in daily group tours to visit many of the sites Atlanta has to offer.

The Atlanta program is FAST-PACED and BUSY, so be prepared for a lot of fun. From 9:30AM to about 7:30-8 PM four days a week, you will be out seeing famous Atlanta sites and meeting people, as members from different area churches serve you lunch and dinner every day. You may visit the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center, Stone Mountain (the world's largest monolith), tour an international television station, participate in a mock trial, visit the Carter Presidential Library, the World of Coke, the Georgia State Capitol and may even meet the Governor. You will also view the various sites of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics- the Olympic Village and Stadium. For the other three days, including Sundays, Christmas Eve/Christmas, an New Year’s Eve and Day, you will be with your American family, participating in their lives. You will have an opportunity to thank them as students prepare food and presentations from their home countries for all to enjoy one evening. We also have a special New Year's Eve party with White Elephant Gift Exchange, or you can spend the evening with your host family (sorry, going downtown is not an option for safety reasons).

Most of all we want to get to know you, learn about your country, your interests and generate longtime friendships. We are very excited to welcome you into our homes.
