St. Augustine, FL

We hope you will consider coming to Northeastern Florida to share your holidays with friends in St. Augustine. St. Augustine is a historical city founded by the Timucuan native Americans and colonized by the Spanish in 1565. The intact Spanish fort, Castillo de San Marcos, is an outstanding national monument you will tour. You will also enjoy the “Nights of Lights” display which is thousands of white twinkling lights all over our historic city.

Memorial Presbyterian Church members welcome you in their homes to share the joy of the Christmas holidays with their families. Each student will stay with their first family from Dec 18-26 and their second family from Dec 26th to January 2nd. During the evenings, weekends, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, you will be with your American friends, participating in their activities. The students each year make Christmas so special, and the memories will forever be treasured.

Many days will be full of activities in the St. Augustine area. Our group will meet most mornings before leaving for an activity for the day. All transportation will be provided and some meals and entrance fees will be provided.  You may want to have some spending money for shopping.

Typical activities will include touring historic St. Augustine tourist attractions and nature experiences (see list below), a group Christmas International House party with the Orange Park CIH program where we enjoy favorite American Christmas traditions such as singing Christmas carols. A favorite activity is International Night at which you are asked to prepare your favorite dish from your country to share with all of the host families. Please bring your favorite recipes, pictures, accessories, music and even attire from your home country to share.

Most of all we want to get to know you, learn about your country, your interests and become friends!  We are very excited to welcome you into our homes.
